RH2: RETAIL NEVER SLEEPS > POETRY
we hear
the sound of the crash first
then the e-bike and its rider
spinning like tops
on the icy pavement
crashing into a mailbox
on the corner of the street
just missing 4th avenue and certain death
it’s a delivery man
racing to get someone their food
and when he gets up
he fixes nothing on himself
not his bloody knees
his ripped jacket
not anything
just the plastic bag
hanging from the handle bars
before he limps on his bike and rides away
and all i can think
is some rich, white asshole
is going to be pissed
that their egg white avocado sandwich
is coming to them
cold
and just a little bit
late.
